Maltie-Chon's have enough energy to keep up with a busy life style however they do not require much exercise and are quite content to be on their own. They have excellent dispositions and wonderful temperaments as well as great personalities. This highly intelligent little dog is very easy to train as he or she is always eager to please. The coloring of this breed is always all white and they grow to be about 10-15 lbs. Great Mountain Pyrenees
The Great Mountain Pyrenees is a beautiful large breed that originated in the south of France and was bred for guarding sheep. Their long, thick coats are white and can have varying shades of gray or tan (badger markings) around their face and ears that sometimes look like a full face mask. Patches may also appear on their body or tail. They are very intelligent, have excellent dispositions and make wonderful guard dogs. This breed needs lots of exercise and can range in size from 110 lbs. up to 150 lbs. They have a 10–12 year life span. Pyrenees are a very capable and imposing guardian, are very devoted to their family, and can be somewhat wary of strangers, human or canine. They are very calm, well mannered and somewhat serious if provoked. This breed is very gentle with their family as well as children.. They have a very independent, somewhat stubborn nature and may try to dominate a less secure handler. Some are not responsive to signals by the owner when off a leash, and can tend to wander off. Daily exercise is necessary for the Pyrenees to stay in shape, though not to excess. Usually a moderate walk will suffice. This breed enjoys hiking, especially in cold weather and snow. They do not do well in hot weather and may be content to lay in the shade or spend time with the family indoors. Grooming includes brushing once or twice on a weekly basis during the times that they shed. The Great Pyrenees may occasionally drool and drinking manners can leave a lot to be desired. Lots of gentle, positive reinforcement of acceptable behaviour makes the Pyrenees a confident creature. Let them know you are trustworthy and you have a companion for life!
